Introduced in 2021, the locally-produced brand Indri from the Piccadilly Distilleries in Haryana began its journey with the inaugural triple-barrel single malt from India, known as Indri-Trini. Over the past two years, it has secured more than 14 international accolades, as reported by The Sunday Guardian.

The Whiskies of the World Award positions India as a leading player in the global whisky industry, particularly in the production of single malts, thereby reshaping the perception of spirits manufactured in the country.

Manufacturing

With an expanding market for whiskey enthusiasts, Indian brands have gained prominence, crafting a diverse range of whiskey styles, including single malts and blends, often infused with distinct regional flavors and aromatic profiles.

This peated Indian single malt is crafted from six-row barley and distilled in traditional copper pot stills within India. It offers a medley of flavors, encompassing candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, subtle spices, oak, bittersweet chocolate, and more. It underwent a lengthy aging process in PX Sherry Casks in the North Indian sub-tropical climate.

Following an extensive period of maturation in PX sherry casks in the subtropical climate of North India, this distinctive whiskey presents notes of smoke, candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, subtle spices, oak, and bittersweet chocolate. The award-winning beverage will be accessible throughout the country as well as in the US and select European countries starting from November. Indri-Trini is already distributed in 19 states in India and 17 other countries.
